May Wine of the Month, Sauvignon Blanc

This popular varietal is known for its bright acidity, refreshing flavors, and versatility when it comes to food pairings.

We believe this month's selection truly captures the diverse and dynamic range of flavors that Sauvignon Blanc has to offer. So, whether you're a seasoned Sauvignon Blanc lover or new to this varietal, we invite you to experience the unique taste profiles of each wine and discover your new favorite.

First, from South Africa, we present Safriel House Barrel Fermented Sauvignon Blanc 2019. Wait... what?  A Sauvignon Blanc that is barrel fermented?  Yes!  This wine is rich and flavorful with unique depth and complexity. While it features the flavors of lime and lemongrass often associated with this varietal, you’ll also experience honeyed grapefruit and a delicious bit of lemon custard.

The Marlborough Region of New Zealand is famous for its Sauvignon Blanc so we would be remiss in not including a superb wine or two from “Down Under”.  The Sea Pearl Sauvignon Blanc 2021 reflects its birthplace with aromas of zesty lime, sweetgrass and gooseberries.  The palate enjoys a lovely minerality with flavors of ripe greens, currants and gooseberries, and a refreshingly long finish.

Our Satellite Sauvignon Blanc 2022, also from the Marlborough Region, is a classic vibrant and zesty wine.  Layers of juicy pear, honey, grapefruit and fresh straw are enjoyed on the nose.  A complex and balanced wine on the tongue, it presents flavors of soft lemon and grapefruit followed by notes of honey and fresh herbs.

We are confident you’ll enjoy these unique and delicious Sauvignon Blancs. Try all three and discover your new favorite!

Cheers!
